That pretty much describes my weekend. Yesterday I headed up to Team O’Neil Rally School to help with radio for an SCCA RallySprint. This turned out to be a small !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ... um, takeover, as I finally got the chance to meet Dusty Ventures in person (all of his co-drive prospects fell through, so he drove course opening), and A.P.RacedInAnger was a fellow radio operator working the course. Good times, as always. The bugs were out in force, but the weather couldn’t have been better. It was a little strange, but very cool, to see quite a few of my old autocross and rallycross friends from Maine competing in rally cars. Erik Potts’ BRZ rally car also inspired me with future plans for my own...
Today, after a non-car club meeting and some errands, I washed my car in my driveway for the first time in many years - probably since my previous house with my previous wife! The car was filthy with Team O’Neil mud, and I’m sure it appreciated the hand wash.
The !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! I ordered arrived early, so I installed them today. The red ones were $5 cheaper a piece ($10 total), AND match my bike well! It was super simple to install them. I removed the reflectors from the forks and bolted the lights there instead. The bike came with a single halogen driving light, so I borrowed the wiring for that to power the LEDs. I was going to try to run all the lights, but once I powered up the new LEDs I saw that wasn’t going to be necessary - they’re SO much brighter and cover far more area than the halogen light, even with the narrower 25* beam angle (45* was the other option). I removed the old light for a cleaner look, but now the wiring and switch for the old light power these LEDs instead. They’re brighter, more visible, and draw about half the power of the old light, despite there being two of them instead of one. I just need to take a quick ride after dark to finish aiming them.
All in all, a productive weekend. It’s Yuengling time.

Nice!
Thanks for the kenwood recommendation. I used it to run radio last weekend at the NASA Michigan test day and it worked great

So much concrete mud washed off the bottom of my Xterra this afternoon that came all the way home from the Team O skidpad

Excellent! I like the TM-281A. You're not the first rally driver I've recommended that model to, and so far everyone seems to agree it's a good rig for the job.

Christ, it was an Oppomeet without any of us knowing it! You, Justin, Andrew, TurboSquirrel, and me at the very least
Beautiful dogs, by the way. I was half tempted to steal one

Hah, I actually didn’t know you were there until dinner on the way home when I mentioned to Andrew “the course opener got a flat” and he told me that it was you.
